2006
Ed and Melanie McGaugh, US/Swiss expatriates, founded the first Expat Expos in Geneva, Zug, and Zürich. Inspired by fellow internationals who shared their struggles of relocating to Switzerland, they created a platform to connect expats with companies offering services in English.
2010
The Expat Expo expanded to include Basel, marking the city's debut on the Expat Expo roster.
2011
Luzern became the fifth city to host an Expat Expo, reflecting the growing demand for expat services across Switzerland.
2012
The Expat Expo network extended to Switzerland’s capital, Bern, and made its inaugural appearance in Ticino with the Lugano Expat Expo.
2020
After years of success, the Expat Expo faced an unprecedented challenge as the Covid-19 pandemic brought events to a halt.
2023
December marked the beginning of a new chapter for Expat Expo, with the arrival of new ownership, expansion of the team, and an updated vision for the future.
2024
Under new leadership, the first Expat Expos were held in Basel, Zug and Zürich, revitalizing the brand. The relaunch featured a modernised website and event format, culminating in a successful first year to the new Expat Expo.
